H10 Head Torch | The evolution of the head torch
One item on the development list was to switch to a two-button operation, which is much more convenient. One button serves as the master on/off switch and changes the lighting modes, while the other switches the light on (without delay) and dims it if necessary. Another new feature is that the headlamp always operates in radio mode. This makes it easy to use, as you don’t have to switch the headlamp to the correct mode.
Bite alarm switches the lamp on, the Smart Band switches it off again
One of the main features is that the headlamp can interact with a wide range of New Direction Tackle products. The bite alarm switches the headlamp on, which means greater comfort and safety for your fishing. Once you’ve experienced this, you’ll wonder how you ever managed without this feature. In addition, the smart band can control the headlamp, allowing you to turn the headlamp on and off from your wrist, which works intuitively. In the future, the product range is set to be expanded to include a kind of smart watch for anglers in addition to the smart band.
Excellent battery life and superb ergonomics
Compared to its predecessor, the battery life has been improved and a boost mode (30 seconds) has been added. In this mode, the light appears particularly bright. In terms of ergonomics, the lamp is also way ahead of the pack: The H10’s housing allows for almost complete angle adjustment of the headlamp, which is great if you want to tie your rigs at night without getting a stiff neck. The headlamp is also magnetic and can be attached to metallic surfaces.
Zoom, good optics and waterproof
The zoom function works very smoothly. At a distance of one metre, you can project either a circle with a diameter of 85 cm or, when fully zoomed in, 35 cm onto the wall. When open, the lens has a very wide angle, perfect for fishing in the dark. In general, the built-in lens is said to be of very high quality and scatter virtually no stray light. This is the light that is emitted around the actual light beam when the lens is of poor quality. In fact, the images show a very circular projection. The waterproofing has been further improved and seals have been integrated for all components. This also increases the lamp’s service life in harsh conditions.
Extra strong red light for perfect night vision
The lamp has a super bright red light. Remember: only red light preserves your natural night vision. With all other light colours, this is lost and your eyes have to readjust to the darkness, which can take up to 20 minutes. With the lamp’s powerful red light, you can do everything you would normally do under white light, even under red light.
UV light for that extra something and stealth mode
The H10 comes with UV light, which is also new compared to its predecessor. The UV light illuminates materials that are UV-active. But only these! The UV light is actually invisible to the human eye, so you cannot see the glow. You can only see it when it is reflected by UV-sensitive materials. This means that the light has a wide range of uses for anglers. If the bite alarms and swingers are equipped accordingly, you can illuminate only the areas that matter in the dark and remain largely invisible to others. We can expect ND to release appropriate accessories for this in the future. It is also very practical when manufacturers equip fishing tackle with UV-active handles, for example. Gone are the days of having to search for everything in the dark. The UV light only illuminates these objects. So it can also be really practical.
Last but not least, the headlamp can be converted to a different cover, which is already included in the scope of delivery. This turns the head torch into a bivvy light and distributes the light via a matt white cover instead of a lens. The head torch then becomes a very soft light source.
The H10 head torch is more than just a simple head torch; it is a true evolution towards the perfect head torch.
